Is Adam Lambart really morally unfit?

Usually I try my utmost to steer clear of politics when I blog (Yeah. Hahah, yeah...right).

Maybe it's my aversion to stirring up controversy, maybe it's my inability to choose a side and stick to it...Maybe it's just my age old phobia of having government men in black suits storming into my house and locking me up till I'm old enough to date (You do not know my mother)...Whatever it is, I'm finally breaking my silence.

Because I am not a Homophobe

I am Homofriend

Recently, PAS our national Islamic party has objected to Adam Lambart's coming to Malaysia, claiming that he is "morally unfit" to perform here.

"Lambert is morally unfit. His gay lifestyle will harm our society. He is of bad, bad character and poses a danger to young Malaysians," said PAS youth chief Nasrudin Hassan. "We want the government to cancel the permit. The country is battling a serious problem of moral decay. We are experiencing rising social violence and crime," he told AFP.

Nasrudin said party members will protest outside the stadium where Lambert is due to perform, and will distribute leaflets discouraging people from attending the show."We will use a soft approach to protest against his performance. He has admitted he is gay. We feel his lifestyle will influence and destroy the young generation. We will not use violence to stop the concert," he said.

I won't lie, this disturbs me...Are we as fellow food loving Malaysians so ready to forget the incident where 16 Indians were arrested for holding a candlelight vigil in protest to having their sacred animal desecrated when a group of mean people beheaded a cow and paraded it's head around? Sitting down with candles, now that...that was peaceful. Not harassing young kids who want to have fun, see their idol, maybe sing a little, dance a little, get stoned a little. PAS might as well hold a picket line shouting "REPENT! REPENT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!" It just won't do them any good.

Now back to the cow head. Just because said meanies happened to be Muslim, doesn't necessarily generalize all Muslims. T here will always be mean and trigger happy people out there, most of which will hide behind their religion. I mean come on, the world will always hold it's fair share of good guys and bad guys - Some of which (the latter) will undoubtedly land in different religions. There's no such things as a good or bad religion (I am so going to receive hell for making this statement) just good and bad people.

Likewise there's no such things as a good or bad sexuality (see how I neatly I slip that back in?). There will be good gays and there will be bad gays (This sentence sounds so wrong in so many ways). And there will be bad straight people and good straight people. I mean...Sheesh! How can you discriminate someone who already has the (lets call it) misfortune to be born against the norm of society. It's not like people turn gay for fun. People don't just wake up one morning and decide to turn their entire life upside down and possibly alienate themselves from their friends and family just for "the heck of it". (Also if you're a believer of creationist theories, don't forget that this person is also a creation of god.)

So come on fellow nasi lemak eaters, show some compassion. Or at least some wisdom. If you're going to dislike a singer, do it because he sucks, not because he likes kissing other guys.

And PAS...PAS, It's awesome that there are people so intent on preserving the innocence and purity of Malaysia's youth. But I'd like to take this moment to direct their attention to more pressing matters at hand. We need more people monitoring the streets for illegal activities, mat rempits and drugs...just aren't cool, guys. Corruption is also a serious issue here at least one that we can change.

And seriously...are we really going to use more of the country's time and money arguing about poor girls who got themselves pregnant or the sanctity of our school uniforms? Really?

Exactly!!! Hahha Elton John for one...and who can fault the actor for Barney in How I Met Your Mother???

You don't discriminate a singer for their sexuality that's just wrong...That's like firing your assistant for their hair color or boycotting a politician for his accent. Those are personal issues...JEEZ

U know what they say? Fake and gay~
Define:moral~
"concerned with principles of right and wrong or conforming to standards of behavior and character based on those principles"
So, what is right and what is wrong?
Gay is wrong? lets say it is wrong, who and what cause it? Lets think about it XD

Arghh i LOVE adam lambert. And Allison haha.
Yeah..name me one singer that Malaysian government didn't ban. If you ask me, we're lucky that any celebrities even want to come to Malaysia at all. And now we're banning everybody. Kudos malaysia.

haha. good one.
but to be honest, umno did the same things
everything has its own agenda, and we don't know the gains from the actions
meanwhile i won't want to touch any deep analysis about this issue
let's not judge an issue through a scope

perhaps you are right at this point
but only to this narrowly defined point
you'll never know sometimes
words uttered are meant to satisfy the need of certain group in the society

that's politic
