Face stuffing at tao

[Disclaimer: this is not a food blog, nor will it ever be a food blog. I do not have any intention of turning this into a food blog. I just like food. All I know is whether it looks good, tastes good and whether I suffer from food poisoning the next day. However I can not judge food so god help me if you hold me responsible for recommending something that sucks. Read at your own risk]

Yesterday was my sister's birthday!! Woohoo!!!

Which can only mean one thing of course - good food and a lot of camwhoring. (I can't help it, I'm a girl, so sue me.)

We headed to Auto City Penang which was in a sense the central hub of all things car, food, drink and club. But you know me, partying, clubbing, drinking, meh. I'm a nice quiet country girl, I live in Kedah, my house is literally surrounded by paddy fields, I don't do all that.

So I pigged out in frustration.

Introducing Tao,
one of my top favorite Japanese cuisine pigout hotspots (count the adjectives in that). I love the theme of the restaurant which is pretty Zen-ish. Even the name itself means 'path' - which is something you hear about A LOT in Buddhism, so trust me, I know.

In case you  haven't been there before (WHAT??? You've never been to the most awesomest Japanese buffet restaurant yet?), it's pretty straightforward. For 50 bucks a person - Ringgit not dollars - you can help yourself to anything on the buffet table, salad bar and menu (THE MENU!!!). There are seven pages of  A la carte to choose from so if you like good food, and lots of it, this is the place to go.

Raw fish on rice (I did say I'm not a food blogger)

Black pepper scallops

Oyster and cheese

Smoked salmon with papaya (so...basically I'm just stating the obvious here)

Till now we still can't tell if this is meat or fish

Mmm...edamame, my favorite

brother ordered four plates of this

Chocolate fountain. Heh. Heh heh heh.
I ninja YOU! Tee hee.
Since it's nearing Halloween, they decked the entire place in spooky Halloween deco. Don't get me wrong here, I love Halloween, I do. Heck, its my most favorite holiday of the year (take that, Christmas) but I wasn't really vibing the place that day. I mean, ninjas and trick-or-treating don't exactly get along very well. Plus, everything looked all over the place.

There was this one point during our dinner when my brother looked up at the ceiling - which was draped in fish nets - and said "They expect us to believe that those are cobwebs??" Case in point.

One thing the management did get right however, were the fools waiters dressed as what I think were supposed to be reapers. 'Course, all that made me want to do even more was jump in front of one, wielding a chopstick and shout at the top of my lungs "EXPECTO PATRONUM!"

I think found Voldemort

THIS is how you scare a kid, dammit!

There hath no love more pure than that of an undead bromance
Food-Sex Analogy
One thing I realized though, is how much food is like sex. Good food is a lot like good sex, I get really upset when I eat something mediocre, what took the chef minutes to prepare is raped finished in half the time and no matter how good it looks pre-dinner, everything ends up looking messy and half eaten and disgusting.

So riddle me this, why the hell do guys still go to strip clubs? Figuratively speaking, wouldn't that be like going to a restaurant, ordering food, smelling it but not allowed to eat it?

What's better than good food?
Hot guys to serve it!!! I officially rename Tao 'Dreamy Waiter Land'

So cute dammit!!

Ethan, if you're reading I swear this guy looks like you

Chef who reminds me of well, someone
Yes. Yes, I know. I'm wearing a skirt. No. No, they did not force it on me.

I wasn't really posing for this picture. What happened was that the camera was being bitchy again so it took a while for my brother to get the settings right. This was taken while I was waiting for him to get the darn thing straight and somehow, it was the best picture. True story.

Taken on the second story ledge. Scared? Pftttt. Clarissa knows no fear. Clarissa laughs in the face of death. HAH!
Final picture: me and my cousin. She's so friggin skinny darn it!

I lied. Tee hee x)

The big dress is a strategy to store more food in ze belly and yet still not appear like a santa claus. ^.^ Thats what I did. Anyway, the Tao in KL has way more choices, and the food is even more amazing than the one in autocity. But still the scallop rocks~!!!!

Guys go to strip clubs to say goodbye to a single man who is about to get married. This is the Bachelor Party. It is the last time man has to eat from the smorgasborg of which is the fishpond of Mates. He is now destined to a singular sad lonely meal, the same meal everyday and forever. No longer is he to learn from the tree of knowledge he is only to be slave and servant to his wife, his meal ticket to sex. The other reason a man goes to a Strip club is because someone has put him on a diet a wife a religious fervor of absolution and so he goes to take a quandry of the menu and leave with his dignity intact still on his diet. On the other hand if he breaks his diet at a strip club and he receives a lap dance as per chance may happen, say if some one was to buy it for him and he really didn't want it, well its never happened to me so I can't say how that buffet my taste.
Beside your writing is exceptional, I truly enjoy your adventures and I feel very guilty that I follow your blogs, be it your age and education.

But that you brought your graduation up, I hope that you think of Journalism or writing for sure as a career. You are for sure to hit a home run in that arena. You should think of collaborating with a film writer that has contacts and can mentor you to cracking the code which is known as the film industry. Your flavor for writing be it food or an Island for breaking the Ice for newlyweds is short concise to the point and colorful in all the right ways.

I am unfortunately, not that writer.

I sincerely wish you luck and look forward to your next blog.

@The Tusk: My age and education? Why sir! I must protest! That sounds like a very inclined predisposition indeed! xDD

Nah, I'm just kidding. Gosh! It's comment like this that really get me excited. In fact, i've dedicated one whole comment box to replying it. Also, i have to thank you for being the ONLY ONE so far who's satiated my curiosity *AHEM*

Fact is, its bloggers like you that help motivate me and age wise, give a lot more texture to what I write seeing as I have to stop every five minutes and go "No wait, thats too shallow/lame/annoying/childish/take-your-pick to put up." Yes, I care way too much about the opinion of others because i'm lame like that xD

Vin Tsen Gan said...

A reply? To the strip club theory? Alright gal, daddy needs some time to boil up that broth of wittiness. A post on this issue will be up pretty soon.

In the meantime, anyone know of a good strip club where blog authors can and will usually head over to gain some inspiration?

Zuzana said...

Seems like you had a great time;) You certainly know how to photograph food to make it look delicious.;)
Thank you so much for stopping by my place, sorry it took me a while to return the visit.;))

And now I'm debating going to get some edamame over lunch today instead of what I brought to work with me.

As for the food-sex analogy, I would agree, but if you focus on the ending, the journey wouldn't be any good.

I've never stepped into a strip club—never seen the point, really—but I imagine the last thing you'd want to do in one is smell anything.

Andreas said...

I take it from your food-sex analogy you don't subscribe to this old adage: "Sex is like pizza - even when it's bad, it's still pretty good." Lol.

Oh and: "Where American crap meets communistic tendencies" - sounds a lot like the inside of my head.

Punk Chopsticks said...

@Cinderella alert: xD No problem, your post was so cute and had amazing pictures x)

However seeing as fashion isn't really a passion of mine (now try saying that 12 times) it would seem pretty pointless to follow you blog and following someone's blog just because they followed yours seems even more redundant. (Well, now you see why I have no friends x) Keep writing though, I know a lot of people out there love what you girls keep putting up!

Punk Chopsticks said...

@Joshua: Lol get the edamame! Lunch? What time is it over there may I ask? and no, you would not want to sniff anything in a strip club (or would you? I don't know)

My point was more localized on the frustration a man would feel. But then again, I'm not a man. hmmm

Punk Chopsticks said...

@Andreas: Finally! A kindred soul!! xD Well. the way i see it, sex is not like pizza. Why the hell would anyone compare sex to pizze? Pizza is yummy and crispy yet moist and

huh

it kinda is isn't it?

I don't know which it is,: either we've both had some pretty good experiences when it comes to sex, or some pretty bad ones.

@Andreas: Well...I think we can settle for the middle line and say something like "Sex is like pizza - even when it's bad, its still pretty good - sometimes. xDD

@Diana: LOL!! Well thank goodness too. I always imagined hello kitty to smell like flowers or something anyway.

loulou: Nooooooooo I'm not xDDD I am? Realy? Nooooooooooooo.

your ex? he went away too? Sorry if it's so. I didn't mean to make you sad.

I still think he's one wonderful thing that happened to me. That alone is enough reason for me to smile :) So, it's ok.

Punk Chopsticks said...

Lol he didn't go away, I left him and spent the rest of my life until now regretting that decision.

but you're right, he is one of the best things that happened to me and I'm just moving on (or trying to lol). But I'm really grateful that someone understands x)

Here in the U.S., a skirt is like a dress except that it only goes from the waist down whereas a dress goes from the shoulders down.

The food looks great. I had no idea that people in Malaysia celebrated Halloween!

LOl and i honestly don't know how to reply to that except SURPRISE!! We do celebrate Halloween. Uh...yeah x)
